Meet Alexandra Litchfield
This month’s Mama Muse is Alexandra Litchfield, mum of three and founder of Bali’s Trove Artistry.
Originally from Australia, Alex has called Bali home for the past eight years, building a family, a business and a life here with her husband. Now a mum to three little ones — two boys and a girl — she knows firsthand the beautiful juggle of motherhood, creativity and growing a business.
For our September Mama Muse, we chat to Alex about raising her family in Bali, how motherhood has shaped the way she works, finding small moments for herself, and the things that inspire her along the way.
Tell us a little about yourself and your family — and the life you’ve built together here in Bali.
I’m originally from Australia, but Bali has really become home for us after 8 years here. My husband and I moved over just the two of us and now we have three little ones, two boys and a girl, and four dogs, so life is definitely busy and a little chaotic, but I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way. We’ve built our family and businesses here, and I feel really lucky that our kids get to grow up surrounded by such a beautiful lifestyle and community.
You’re a mum of three while also building and growing Trove. How has motherhood shaped the way you approach your work and the woman you are today?
Motherhood has changed me in so many ways. It’s definitely made me more patient, but also more driven and much more intentional with my time. Having three young kids while growing Trove has taught me that I can’t do everything perfectly. I just try to be really present with whatever needs me in that moment. I also love that my kids get to grow up watching me build something I’m passionate about.
What inspires you most in your day-to-day life as a mother?
Honestly, my kids. They’re my main motivation for me to keep creating a life that gives us freedom, experiences and lots of time together.
Between three kids, family and a growing business, what does self-care look like for you?
Selfcare means different things to me on different days. Sometimes it’s getting my hair blowdried or having a quiet coffee, even going out for a nice meal with my husband. Other days it’s just having a little window where nobody needs me or isn’t calling out “Mum” every 5 seconds. I’ve learnt that it doesn’t have to be anything huge because even the smallest bit of time to myself helps me reset.
Describe your perfect day in Bali with your tribe — where are you going and what are you doing?
Morning coffee at Beige always! The boys love Le Bajo so probably spending the day there. A little pina colada by the pool and home by sunset – perfect.
